Bamboo Fun

This is the most active ive been on my blog in one day for a while Today after Geocaching with Kyle. I stopped buy Officeworks to see if they had a camera that I was interested in (waterproof for beach trips this summer) and instead I walked out with a Bamboo Fun Pen+Touch Drawing Tablet. It wasn’t planed at all. But there goes another couple of hundred $$ Thank god for credit cards… or Curse the guy who created credit cards. One of the two. So I spend the afternoon drawing. Most of the time just little scribbles getting used to the feel of the larger drawing surface and the improved touch sensitiveness of it over my old tablet. Anyway. I did this drawing and just thought I’d share it with you all. Dont ask me WTF it is, I don’t really know. Its just a quick sketch of an eye that evolved into half a face then got hair then became a girl and apparently it looks sad. Everything is out of proportion, but oh well.

This week’s photoshop tutorial comes to you from here, The idea behind the tutorial is great, but my attention span lost focus as always and I ended up faking my way through the rest, ignoring the directions and everything like that to do what ever gave me a result I was happy with, well here it is… Also, make sure to check out iRelle for her take on the same tutorial!

Tonight I attempted THIS photoshop tutorial after not having done any photoshop work in a long time, the tutorial was simple and easy to follow, a good one to get me back into the swing of things with it. Now I just need to get back into the swing of things with blogging. Anyhow, as usual, my attempts never turn out like the tutorials. I have a short attention span and start doing what ever I like near the end, skipping bits and pieces etc. So with out further ado… here is my finished work. Tada!

So ever since the other day when I started drawing again, I’ve felt the urge to draw and draw. Today I drew a photo of Andrew from a picture taken at Christmas time at Claire’s place. Once again my style seems to have changed…

After last nights drawing of iRelle, I once again whipped out the drawing tablet, and this time I drew a picture I had of iKoz. Once again, the style is different, I attempted colouring, but Kyles skin tone is naturally more tan than Anna and the colour scheme didn’t work and I didn’t want to make him look like a Block of Chocolate either. Colouring Fail!

So its been a while since I’ve done any photoshop sketches.
After seeing some of iRelle’s recent ones on her facebook profile
I was inspired by her style, and unfortunatly I can not duplicate it!
You should defenatly check out her work! its 100x better than mine.
This picture was drawn from a photo when iRelle, iKoz and I went to Greens Beach
back in summer…

yes it is now freakin cold. Grr

Today when I started drawing, I didn’t want to just draw another photo that I had in my collection, I was watching an episode of Chuck at the time and decided, hell why not. Got a screen capture and started drawing away with my tablet. and here is my result. Not the best. The NOSES are too high. I think its because of how I draw the eyes… Im no good with eyes. Then the noses end up too high and yeah, So tell me. What do you think?

EDIT: Tried to fix the nose. Tell me if you think the nose on Chuck is better (old version on thread thumbnail)

So, I’ll try any type of art once… hell I went to Live Drawing in college (nekkid people) and I like trying new things, and I’m in no way an expert in any forms of them. But I’ve definitely found one thing that I am not good at. After seeing some pictures that Anna Relle did using here Wacom Tablet, sketching images. I thought I would try it myself with the typical, anything you can do I can do better frame of mind… well that didn’t work out. Below is my result… but to see some actual good work. After getting into the swing of things yesterday with the photoshop tutorial on How to Turn yourself into an Avatar Na’vi, I decided to bust out the old Photoshop once again and try another tutorial. Watercolour picture effect These tutorials have been extremely easy and they are a great step by step, even if you don’t want to re-create their original image.

After logging into Windows 7 today and using Windows Live Messenger and the Ninemsn popup was going on about how people had edited photos of celebrities to look like the Na’vi from James Cameron’s AVATAR. The pictures were interesting and made me wanted to make myself a personal Na’vi, I eventually found THIS link which had step-by-step instructions on how to Na’vi yourself and I decided to give it a go. My result is no where near as good, it really shows that I’m out of practice when it comes to Photoshop, but this may just make me find more tutorials and such in the future!
