The End of it All

31 Jul

Well here it is, the end of the 31 for 31 challenge, I remember trying to sleep, but then getting the urge to post a blog, back in the days where myself and Anna had only just started blogging twice a week, but I thought to myself, “No there must be something more” and then it came to me, one Month of blogs, which I quickly challenged Anna to.  At first I didn’t thin that it would go so far, but here we both are, a month and 31 blog entry’s later and the daunting task is over and looking back on it, it was never much of a chore. Although there were days when my Mind wouldn’t let me churn out a good blog, which is why I’m not going to continue posting daily, but I promise a minimum of 4 Blog posts a week, hopefully 5, hell I may even post more than one blog entry a day depending on what I’m in.

Next week I start holidays so the blog may receive more attention then, who knows. But for now I think the best way to rap up the 31 for 31 challenge is to show you these three blog entries.

This one is one of the only blog entries I managed to save before my old site kicked the shit. It’s the entry where I Promise to blog every day for the month, although there were also other promises such as vlogs etc… (I failed the vlogs, didn’t do one at all)

iDigDan Showcase

30 Jul

Dan just told me that his brain is fried from exhaustion (or words to that effect), and I wanted to make up for the half-assed effort I made yesterday – I was too tired that night! But Dan wrote such a terrific guest blog for me, that I feel the need to make a bit more of an effort. (Also, I’m nowhere near as wiped out as I have been this last week! )

As repayment, then, today I’d like to showcase on his own blog two of my very favouritist photos by iDigDan! (and it’s a hard choice to make, believe me! Odd that some of my faves have myself in them… I’m not *that* photogenic! =P) To employ one of his favourite sayings, you can check them out after the jump.  (>.o) Silouete

I love the contrasts in this photo… the silhouette of myself, the sunlight on the smoothness of the rocks, the trees, the dark horizon on the edge of the shadow. It just works so well, especially in the letterbox crop.

And this one I adore for the texture and the colours… the picture is so much better than the real thing! And this photo outstripped all my own of the same shot by a country mile!

Click the images to go to the respective flickr pages and find better quality versions.

Blog Swap!

29 Jul

Today is the 29th Day of the challenge that Dan proposed at the end of last month… and to commemorate our success so far, we’re swapping blogs for the day. My name is Anna, and I’ll be your host for this evening. (or whenever you’re reading this. Incidentally, my blog is over at iRelle, if you want to read Dan’s version of events)

This blog is usually a lot more technical than mine (at least, it feels that way to me), but following that extremely nerdy (not-that-there’s-anything-wrong-with-that!) post about StarGate Universe, I feel a little de-geeking won’t hurt anyone.

The last couple of nights I’ve been at uni after five p.m., and the atmosphere out here becomes so much more of a community after sundown – everyone becomes a little more open, a bit more friendly – but not so much that they feel compelled to talk to you about their fluffy pets or their Grandma’s false teeth or anything. Maybe a little of the campus accommodation air seeps out into the highways and byways of the uni. It’s a bit like the approaching darkness puts a ceiling on the area and calls it a home. You don’t know anyone, but you don’t need to. The dusk is full of easy silences and aloneness – but not loneliness.

The uni overlooks the (Tamar) river, and this week it’s been flowing high (lots of rain :-D ). The new-found view – after they chopped all the trees between the uni and the highway down – has been particularly appealing. It pops into view after the particularly vicious mid-80’s architectural assault that is the cafeteria and education block, and the river flowing by comes across as soothing rather than otherwise – although it’s by no means one of the wonders of the world. It’s Tasmania and it’s winter, so the sun is setting at around five, and it sinks down behind the river and stretches the reflections across the ripples. Combined with a pink sky, a gentle breeze and a few early stars, it really is tranquil and relaxing.

Maybe I’m harping on the restfulness a bit much… but I have two assignments due before the end of next week, and so much work to do! I’m not feeling very relaxed at all. Last night I didn’t get home until half past nine from a study group – after leaving the house at eight in the morning! My days are filling up with a level of stress that I haven’t really experienced before – I’ll hold onto the peaceful uni-induced evenings as long as possible!

This was a pleasant interlude, but back to the study! Dan will be back with more conventional content tomorrow!

P.S Sorry it’s late, its Dan’s fault, he didnt get home till 1AM to post it.

Flickr Blog

28 Jul

Picture 1It’s time for another photoblog! and today the Flickr user in question is Formha this user has a lot of great photographs, and their style changes quite a bit, There are some really great photo’s in their Photostream, but I feel you have to search for them through a lot of rather average images. My favorite set of hers is the Backlight set rather than some of the ones with people in them. After the jump you will see some of my favorites!

SGU: Comic Con

27 Jul

So with Comic-Con that was on this weekend in San Diego a two new Trailers were released for Stargate Universe. I will admit that the previous two Trailers and all of the info that I had heard about the new Series really had me not looking forward to it, but now. These trailers have given me a little bit more hope with what could possibly be another good installment of the Stargate Universe.

( I still really want to see an Atlantis Movie)

With out any more talk, here are the previews. P.S I’m sorry to say that to Non-Stargate Fan’s, once SGU start’s up, My blog Will most likely have a review of each episode. :-)
