Weight Loss

Posted by on October 10, 2011

Seven Months ago I joined a Gym. My goal was simple, start exercising and loosing weight. It went well to start off with. Good intentions and all of that jazz until I started loosing my motivation to go to the gym. I started finding excuses. Such as “It’s too late” or “I have work early tomorrow” I was much more content to sit on the computer, chatting with friends on Skype or AIM and watch videos on YouTube, play The Sims Social on Facebook or just rewatch a Television series from scratch. In the course of Seven months, with no change to my diet and well, fairly irregular physical activity. I have only managed to loose 2.5KG which really isn’t my monies worth when I am paying for a Gym membership.

So today I’ve made up my mind. Starting Monday 10/10/11 I will start being more active, I will visit the Gym at least three times a week. I will not make excuses and I will start to change my diet. I will pay attention to what I’m eating and I will not eat junk food all day. I will not have McDonalds, KFC, Hungry Jacks, Charcoal Chicken or the likes more than once a week. I will drink water more regularly and I will start loosing weight. I am not paying money for a gym membership only to see it go to waste. I’ve spent enough money over the years on technology and junk food. I now need to make the money I’m spending in gym memberships worth it. I’ve already made the investment into my health financially. I just need to get my self physically behind it.

I currently weight in at 122.5KG and I’m posting that here for the whole world to see. Because I no longer want to be this weight anymore. I don’t want to wear 2XL sized clothing. I don’t want to get exhausted running around for five minutes when I’m playing the dog. I want to be able to go for long run’s with him. I want to be able to feel comfortable with who I am and I want to get down to a Large in clothing size. I’ve been inspired watching Youtuber ShayCarl loose weight. He’s lost over 50 pounds which equals to 22.67KG which is pretty much the same amount in which I need to loose to reach what I am currently calling my goal weight. But that doesn’t mean that I will be happy with getting to just 100KG. I want to get further. But Weight Loss is not my soul goal here. I want to increase my strength, my fitness and my eating habit’s. It’s a long and challenging commitment and I fully understand that it will not happen over night.

It’s because of this that I have decided I will update at least once a week on my health progress. Every Sunday I will update you with my weight. Because if I’m posting it online, there’s no way I want to go up in weight. Only down. I’m not expecting to go from fat to skinny in just a week. This will be a long journey and hopefully one that I will be able to get through if I put my mind to it. As far as I see it. I’m taking my first steps here and now. I just need to make sure I take my second, third, fourth and fifth until I start seeing improvements.

I encourage anyone else who reads my blog, if they are wanting to change something about themselves. Join me in this mission. Post your goals and progress on a blog, tumblr, twitter or Facebook. Anywhere that makes it public. Because if your goals are public. You are more likely to strive for them. Thats all I have to say today. Now I head out to begin this mission. I hope you will follow me along for the ride.

Woo! Inspiring! Perhaps not enough for me to fork out for a gym membership just yet (keep asking though, eventually I will give in), but just enough of a pick-me-up to keep me inspired for this week… and my blog post is going up as soon as I have time to write it!

I am so proud of you Dan! This is such a brave thing to write this for the public to see.

This post sounded so much like me, only I am thinking of cancelling my gym membership. Mind you I am writing this while eating chocolate!

I think this is a wonderful idea and I would love to join in your journey, and watching eachother’s progress is a great support network.

This would be the perfect first post for my re-vamped blog.

Best of luck with your journey :)

Maybe you should join Health and Fitness world. We can motivate one another then and go to the gym at the same time. The worst thing for me is actually going!
