Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief

Posted by on February 18, 2010

It’s the 21st century, but the gods of Mount Olympus and assorted monsters have walked out of the pages of high school student Percy Jackson’s Greek mythology texts and into his life. And they’re not happy: Zeus’ lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the prime suspect. Even more troubling is the sudden disappearance of Percy’s mother. As Percy finds himself caught between angry and battling gods, he and his friends embark on a cross-country adventure to catch the true lightning thief, save Percy’s mom, and unravel a mystery more powerful than the gods themselves. So I watched this movie yesterday, simply for the fact that the adds looked cool and the Title sounded interesting, although a bit long. I had no idea that it was a movie made from a book, or the fact that the book was part of a series, so I can only hope that they decide to finish making the series now. I’ve also ordered the books they should be comming any day now.

At first I didn’t really know what to think about the film. It was a bit confusing and it may have started out just a little too fast for my liking, while your not thrown straight in, you do pretty much find out that the lead character, Percy Jackson isn’t your normal teenage boy… but then again, in what movie are they ever normal. He can hold his breath under water for hours.

I dont want to spoil the movie too much, so I wont say any more, The graphics were good. The acting was good and the story might have made a bit more sense if I had read the books. I give it a 8 out of 10.
