Gingerbread House

Posted by on December 16, 2009

The other day I got a weird craving to make a gingerbread house… yes MAKE a gingerbread house, not to eat a gingerbread house but to make one. I don’t know why, maybe it had something to do with the fact that a few videos I watched on youtube had Gingerbread houses, and it could even have been the fact that in primary school, one of the students mothers would ALWAYS make a massive gingerbread house around christmas time and bring it in for the class. Anyway, after a few days of uhming and ahhing I found a recipe this morning and through out the course of the day I got to work, only just finishing it about an hour ago.

I had a few problems with the dough at first, It was ROCKSOLID, then the Icing was being stupid… although I think the electric mixer may be on its way out because I almost burnt out the motor doing the dough… But the house is up… for down and it has a TON of icing on it holding it together, the chimney is a failure, but its there anyway! Now to eat this thing….

Oh, I love it!!!! It’s so colourful and housey and Christmassy! I may have to make one tomorrow and send it home with the niblings when they come on Friday (nobody eats gingerbread much around here). I am impressed with your cooking skills! yay!
