The End of it All

31 Jul

Well here it is, the end of the 31 for 31 challenge, I remember trying to sleep, but then getting the urge to post a blog, back in the days where myself and Anna had only just started blogging twice a week, but I thought to myself, “No there must be something more” and then it came to me, one Month of blogs, which I quickly challenged Anna to.  At first I didn’t thin that it would go so far, but here we both are, a month and 31 blog entry’s later and the daunting task is over and looking back on it, it was never much of a chore. Although there were days when my Mind wouldn’t let me churn out a good blog, which is why I’m not going to continue posting daily, but I promise a minimum of 4 Blog posts a week, hopefully 5, hell I may even post more than one blog entry a day depending on what I’m in.

Next week I start holidays so the blog may receive more attention then, who knows. But for now I think the best way to rap up the 31 for 31 challenge is to show you these three blog entries.

This one is one of the only blog entries I managed to save before my old site kicked the shit. It’s the entry where I Promise to blog every day for the month, although there were also other promises such as vlogs etc… (I failed the vlogs, didn’t do one at all)

Promises from 3AM

By idigdan

This is why I hate Laptops… well not really hate considering its why I love them. It’s 3AM Saturday as I write this and I desperately need some sleep. I shut off my PC and head to bed when an Idea clicks in my brain and I sit in bed, pull up my macbook and start writing this to you. The convinence of always being connected has a way of making you dependant on it as well as loving and needing it… well in my case it does anyway!

I know me and Anna (www.annarelle.ucoz.com) are doing a Twice a week blog thingi to make ourselves be active with these sites we’ve started, and we’ve been going pretty well with them, I dont see it to be a challenge more of just a time to reflect on my thoughts or just say what ever the hell I want to! But now I am taking it one step further, actually its probably about 5 steps further and I am wondering if I will be able to push Anna to join me in this new challenge.

I am proposing to myself that Come July 1st I begin a Blog-Every-Day-Month, So come end of July I will have posted 31 Blogs, it’s a tough challenge I know but it brings with it some other challenges that everyone / anyone is welcome to take part in as well as just the 31Day Blog-A-Thon.

There is no way I am expecting to do 31 full quality blog posts. Which is why I am going to start a photography challenge for myself at the same time which will go along the lines of Post a Photo every week. I have no problem posting about 10 photos a fortnight so I just wanted to try and post atleast one photo to my flickr account (www.flickr.com/photos/digdan) every week. These photos could create the basis around some of my daily blogs. From just showing you guys a photo to discussing technics or my thoughts on the images to anything else.

Another thing is that on the 26th of June the iPhone 3G S will be released so by the 1st of July I should proudly own a 3G S, with all its video capturing goodness. With which i will begin using a new Youtube Channel I have started to do weekly vlogs to coincide with my twice weekly blogs. So right there I have four things a week that give a variety of different content onto my blog.

Anna also suggested that I should do more product reviews. While yes my bank account will kill me for that, I think I may take it up, even if its with cheap crappy items at first…. anyone wanna sponsor me? LoL… Seriously???

Thats all I really had to tell you all from 3AM but while I’m at it here is the updated count from Race > 2,000

@DigDan 530?@AnnaRelle 355?@AndreaMaria 246

Andrea has made a substantial leap from the first day! GO DREA! (now we just need to get her blogging… although she is getting a HD camera so there may be vloging in the future!)

End Note: Anna you must be getting sick of these challenges I keep throwing down the gauntlet for. We’ve had Twitter Day (See how many times you can tweet in one day) Then there was Blog twice a week. The other day we started the Twitter race to 2,000+ Tweets and now all these added ones from this blog post!

iDigDan Guest Blog

Wednesday July 29, 2009

Ladies and Gentlemen: Welcome to iRelle Blog, Special Guest Edition, with the Special Guest being…. (Drum roll please) ME! iDigDan (check me out at http://idigdan.ii-blog.com) As most of you will know, Anna and I started blogging several months ago on separate sites and back then on our old blogs we had small challenge/goal kind of thing where we were to aim for two quality blog posts a week, after a while that escalated after I had a 3AM idea, to blog every day for one whole month. Which I managed to successfully drag Anna into, but what made it easier was the start of ii-blog.com with the both of us looking for some where better to host our blogs and so ii-blog.com was started just days before July started.

Twenty Nine days later and we have both almost completed the 31 for 31 challenge which, I believe we are both very proud of. There have been day’s where I’ve seen it as a burden, but there were many more days when I just couldn’t stop thinking of things to post, I ended up with a week worth of blog posts just waiting to go live.

In a way, I would like to say that mine and Anna’s blog equal each other out, mine has a lot of Nerdy moments in it, hell in the past week I’ve blogged about Network’s, Sci-Fi shows and god knows what else over the month, where as Anna’s take a lot more of a personal roll, using intelligent words from University and just blogging from a “This is me and this is what I think and Feel” And I think that these differences in our blogging style kind of even us out.

I will admit right here and now that some days, my mind is flooding with ideas for an entry, and other days I put them off so bad that by the end of the day I end up doing a photo pimp or as I have been calling them, a Flickr Pimpr Blog. They seem to be my scapegoat that have gotten me through the 31 for 31 experience, even when I have had interesting things happen in my life but I’ve been too lazy to type.

Right now, to tell the truth it is 1AM on Thursday night, I have actually missed Wednesday, and thrown out all of Anna’s hard work. But do you want to Know why? I was stuck at work till about half an hour ago due to some refrigeration problems. Of course the place wants to break down 10 minutes before home time!

If you want to check out Anna’s actual blog post for Wednesday the 29th of July and the 29th instalment of 31 for 31, head on over to my blog! http://idigdan.ii-blog.com, oh and also Kyle has recently started blogging as well, even if there is only a small intro post up so far. http://ikoz.ii-blog.com.

My final words here on Anna’s blog is to say that I will most likely not be continuing with the Daily Posts as they are getting a bit difficult with work, some times I get stuck there late and I can miss a day so I don’t want to promise Daily Blogs, but I will be Blogging at least 5 Days a week, Possibly 5 times a day. Who knows where these Blogs will take me and Anna, but I will say that they have defiantly pulled our friendship closer together, before the blogs we hardly talked after College finished, but now we end up catching up every other week. Which is one thing I’ve enjoyed about the blogging. J

See you all next time!

-Daniel

Number 31!

TODAY IS THE FINAL DAY OF THE 31-DAY BLOG CHALLENGE!

This is incredibly exciting and rewarding for me, and I’m sure iDigDan, my partner in composition, feels the same way. It’s all Dan’s fault, and I’m going to take this opportunity to give him full credit.

I’m not really sure how this whole blog thing started out. My first serious blog was hosted at sampa.com, then I decided to move it up a notch and landed at ucoz.com… now I’m here, courtesy of Dan again, and my blogging has moved way beyond the original once-a-month writings I started with. Looking back over this last months’ blogs, I can’t say I’m terribly impressed (I much prefer some of my older writing) – but that can be next month’s challenge. This month the goal was to have something posted each day, and I can’t believe how easy that was. I fell into a pattern that was easy to follow – although it did get rather disrupted in this last week. My sleep schedules, thought patterns and general habits plummeted into a dead spin following the realisation that uni really had begun, and I wasn’t anything like prepared. Now I’m feeling on top of everything (perhaps unjustly, but oh well!) and ready to tackle some genuine writing again.

But credit where credit is due… without Dan, I would still be writing randomly every second month with no motivation or real interest in it. The challenges he came up with at odd hours of the night have made me get my act together and do something that I love more regularly. The other things that I have to thank him for are the photohunts. We stumbled across our cameras at about the same time, and decided to head out to find something to take photos of. We ended up at Chalmers church, The waterfront and Penny Royal that day. I have those photos labelled the 4th of April this year. That doesn’t seem all that long ago, but we’ve done a lot since then! The last couple of weekends have been too rainy or too busy to get out with our cameras, and I can’t believe how much I miss Saturday photohunts when they don’t happen. Sometimes it’s great just to get out of the house and away from everything else and just immerse yourself in taking photos… lining up a shot, finding something special to capture, and twisting your mind around new ways to make something interesting. And having someone for company who doesn’t get incredibly bored and who’s willing to pose for a photo makes it that much better!

So, to commemorate the end of this month – can I call it a milestone month? – I want to share some photos from both Dan and I on that first photohunt. Here they are, side-by-side, to show how our interpretations of the same subject matter compare (but remember, he has an awesome camera and more skill…!) My photos are on the left, Dan’s on the right!

And finally, I want to say a huge thank you for all the support from everyone who reads my blog occasionally! Thanks for putting up with the ‘blatant self-advertising’ (well, it’s proven to work!), the odd dreary note and the bizarrity that found its way up here the last 31 days! I appreciate it all so much!

I’ll be back tomorrow with some plans for the month of August!

And that is the end of the 31 for 31 challenge. See you all in my next blog! Remember to comment and Ask for your own Blog!!!
