The Big Bang Theory
I started watching The Big Bang Theory about 4 months ago when a friend of mine on WLM linked me to a site where I could watch random shows. Although the quality of the video on the site wasn’t really that well, I started watching the Big Bang Theory, and I loved it. It might be the semi-geekiness in me and just the fact that I don’t watch a whole lot of television for it to compete with. Anyway after watching the entire first two seasons online, I brought the DVD for Season 1 (Season 2 not available ATM in Australia)
The Big Bang Theory, is an American sitcom created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady and originally premiered on the 24th September 2007 and it revolves around the lives of two guys in their twenties who work at the Californian Institute of Technology. Leonard, an experimental physicist and his room mate Sheldon a theoretical physicist and they live across the hall from Penny, an attractive blonde waitress with hollywood dreams.
Basically the show spends a lot of time mixing the two different worlds together. The world of a young, blonde woman and two geeky physicists. With the addition of Howard and Rajesh (Leonard and Sheldon’s equally as geeky friends)

Leonard played by Johnny Galecki is an experimental physicist with an IQ of 173 and received his Ph.D. at the age of 24 and shares an apartment with his friend / colleague Sheldon. After being a geek his whole life Leonard starts trying to explore more social situations when Penny moves in across the hall.
Sheldon is played by Jim Parsons and portrays a theoretical physicist with a Master’s degree and two Ph.D’s as well as an IQ of 187. He was a child prodigy starting college at the age of 11, straight out of the 5th grade. He extremely neurotic which is the main point of the characters humor.
Penny (the attractive blonde) is okayed by Kaley Cuoco. She’s start’s off as the new neighbor across the hall from Leonard and Sheldon and is their complete opposite. Working as a waitress at a local restaurant she wants to become an actress, although in episode 10 (The Loobenfeld Decay) when Penny is cast in a musical, she wouldn’t want to be aiming to become a singer…
If you dont mind a little spoiler, read below but if you don’t want to know the bare facts about seasons 1 and two the next two paragraph’s are not for you (I will make them as small as possible for you so you can skip them!)

In Season One physicists Leonard and Sheldon get their lives shaken up when an attractive young woman named Penny moves in to the apartment across from theirs. Leonard begins to develop a love for Penny, while she puts up with his friends: Sheldon Cooper, who has a combination of obsessive–compulsive disorder and neurosis; Howard Wolowitz, a sex-crazed maniac; and Rajesh, who will not speak to her, as he is too shy to talk to girls. Throughout the season: Sheldon loses his job for insulting his new boss, finds his ego bruised by a child prodigy, and finds himself unable to bear being part of a lie that Leonard has told—always attacking the world with a relentless need to assert his supremacy; Rajesh learns that he can talk to girls when he’s drunk; and Penny and Leonard go out (in the final episode).
Season Two begins to deal with character development, including Sheldon becoming more and more obsessive, with a characteristic lack of understanding of irony and sarcasm reminiscent of Asperger syndrome. Leonard and Penny’s relationship takes a turn for the nasty when they break up, but quickly is resolved and progresses into a stronger friendship than before. In the season finale Penny hints at her true feelings for Leonard. Meanwhile Howard’s character remains similar to that of season one. Rajesh manages to briefly apologize to Penny without having consumed alcohol.

If you haven’t watched the show, I highly reccomend it, even if you only watch a couple of show’s the episodes are under half an hour each so you wont be loosing to much time if you dong like them. But now, I leave you with the episode’s opening credit music. Enjoy!
